I was in my second month of pregnancy when me and my husband decided to disclose this news to our relatives and friends . Of course, everyone was too happy hearing this news and congratulated us.
Along with many advises that I received, was one which I could not stop thinking about that whole night.
One of my friend asked me if I had started applying any cream on my belly and hips to avoid stretchmarks. She warned me that if I wouldn’t take preventive steps now, it would be too difficult for me to fade away those marks once they develop.
Being a first time mom, I was already too nervous about the changes my body was to go through during pregnancy. And frankly telling, I did hear about those stretch marks a lot of times on different social sites and advertisements , but never ever gave a thought on it. The whole next day , I searched about those haunting lines on various e commerce websites , beauty blogger’s web page, consulted my gynae and talked to my experienced mommy friends.
Below is what I found out and what finally worked for me.
What Are Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks are the lines that develop due to rupturing of collagen present under the skin. This rupture would occur during many phases of life – pregnancy, growth spurt and sudden weight gain and can develop at any part of the body especially, tummy, hips, thighs and busts.
Are They Preventable?
Yes, But only if you start taking care of them well before they occur. For pregnant mums, its very essential to apply topical creams or oils especially meant for the stretch marks right from the second month of pregnancy.
I already have Stretch Marks. Now What?
Once you develop these lines, its very difficult to completely get rid of them. But, you can still use these creams to lighten the marks.
